He is an Egyptian football player who plays as a central defender. He played for the Egyptian club Al-Ahly, from which he moved to Middlesbrough in the English Premier League and then to Turkey’s Kayserispor. At the international level, Shawky helped Egypt win the African Cup of Nations twice, in the 2006 and 2008 editions.
